Tour Plan

Day 1 Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Agdz

We pick you up from your Riad/hotel at 8 am, we cross the High Atlas Mountains by the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, with an altitude of 2260m (7417ft) in the direction of Agdz, via Ait Ben Haddou, a well-preserved Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, arriving in Agdz which is located on the ancient caravan route connecting Marrakech to Timbuktu in Mali. We visit Tamnougalt Kasbah and then spend a night here in a Kasbah-styled Riad/Hotel.

Day 2 Agdz – Zagora – Tamegroute – Mhamid – Erg Chigaga.

We continue our journey through the spectacular Draa Valley with its millions of palm trees. On the way, we stop at the 11th century religious center of Tamegroute to visit an old Coranic library as well as the town’s popular green pottery factory. Once in Mhamid, we start our 60 km (37 miles) off-road adventure to the wild Sahara Desert of Erg Chigaga far away from any civilization. Dinner and night in a Berber camp in the middle of nowhere.

Day 3 Erg Chigaga – Iriki Lake – Taznakht – Marrakech

After breakfast, we take the old Paris-Dakar Rally tracks, crossing the natural dry lake of Iriki which was once full of water and diverse bird population, in the direction of Taznakht village, one of the largest centers of Berber carpets in Morocco, where we can visit a women’s carpet cooperative if you’re interested. From there we head back across the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech where we will drop you off at your Riad/Hotel.
