We pick you up from your Riad/hotel at 8 am, cross the High Atlas Mountains by the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass 2260m (7417ft) towards Ouarzazate, via Ait Ben Haddou, a well-preserved Kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Arriving in “Hollywood of Africa” Ouarzazate since it has been a major destination for filmmakers where you have the chance to visit the Cinema Museum or Atlas Studio, a Hollywood caliber movie studio.
We continue our journey to Tamtatoucht, through Kelaa Magona, the Valley of the Roses. This valley gives birth to the Persian rose from which locals produce different cosmetic products. Continuation to Dades Valley where we will see the extraordinary rock formations known as Monkey Toes. Before we reach Todra Gorge, a narrow canyon with sheer stone cliffs 300m (985ft) high, and finally arriving in the Berber village of Tamtatoucht where we spend the night.
After breakfast, we go back to Todra Gorge where you can enjoy a 1-hour hike among these astonishing canyons, palm groves, fig-trees, and grapes. We can stop at Erfoud to visit a Fossil complex before we travel to Merzouga for a night in a hotel by the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Today we explore Merzouga’s region. First, we start by Dayet Srij, a small lake that has a large and diverse bird population, then we discover Gnaoua music in the village of Khamlia, meet nomads in the Hamada “Black Desert” and take tea in their tent, and finally starting our sunset camel ride over the dunes of Erg Chebbi and a night under the stars in a luxury desert camp.
With an early morning to catch the fabulous sunrise, a tasty breakfast in the middle of the dunes, we head north towards Fes via the High Atlas Mountain. Lunch will be scheduled in the Berber town of Midelt, next we continue to Ifrane National Park to see the monkeys that live in this Cedar Forest, before arriving in the mythical city of Fes.
